NYCxDesign kicks off next week! If the deluge of event invitations is any indication, the week promises to be stacked with insights in design, exciting exhibitions, and buzzy activations. In addition to reporting on the ground for noteworthy and compelling product news and launches, AN is hosting its annual spring showroom crawl throughout the Nomad and Flatiron neighborhoods and participating in a number of talks, parties, and happy hours. Every so often the opportunity arises to connect off the screen and gather our community of architects, designers, and readers in person. The below AN-related events are a chance to do just that—and get an early peek at the AN Interior Spring/Summer 2024 issue!

Here are the events before and during NYCxDesign that AN is hosting or participating in:

A casual happy hour will be hosted by Studio Loutsis’s Brooklyn office. The event gathers the magazine’s community and offers a preview of our Spring/Summer 2024 issue. Additionally, the evening is your chance to see Studio Loutsis’s office, designed by Future Projects, which won an Editors’ Pick Award in AN’s 2023 Best of Design Awards in the Interior—Workplace category.

Design District Showroom Crawl

Nomad/Flatiron
Wednesday May 15

As with previous issues, the new Spring/Summer issue of AN Interior is celebrated with a showroom crawl throughout Nomad and Flatiron. Ligne Roset, Porcelanosa, Rimadesio, Havwoods, and other showrooms will open their doors to AN’s community to view new designs and grab a drink and light bites from each. Visit each of the showrooms for a chance to win one of four $250 Amex gift cards.

Sourcing and Reusing Local Wood: Tri-lox & Stickbulb

The Oasis at ICFF
Sunday May 19
3:00p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Executive editor Jack Murphy will moderate a conversation between Alexander Bender of Tri-lox and Russell Greenberg of Stickbulb about the material sourcing and design process for Treeline, a new line of architectural lighting fixtures made from locally salvaged wood.

It was by sourcing wood from decommissioned water towers that Tri-Lox, a Brooklyn, New York–based design, fabrication, and manufacturing company, became interested in diverting materials from the waste stream. The group will discuss its strategies—including the sourcing network it has built—along with its collaboration local lighting manufacturer Stickbulb, whose Treeline fixtures utilize wood Tri-Lox helped salvage from New York City parks.

If you’re at ICFF, keep an eye out for AN’s design editor, Kelly Pau, who will be one of the jurors for the ICFF Editors Awards and will be walking the show on Sunday, May 19, and Monday, May 20.
