October/November 2019: Landscape

For this year’s landscape issue, we look at what goes into three parks that represent different approaches in how the U.S. builds public space. In annotated illustrations, we pick apart Santa Monica, California’s Tongva Park; Oklahoma City’s Gathering Place; and New York’s Hunter’s Point Park South.

The landscape theme continues in our outdoor products special section, which includes the best in outdoor furniture and lighting, and in several reviews of new books from Diana Agrest and Fred Scharmen.

The rest of the issue includes reviews of several noteworthy new buildings, including David Adjaye’s Ruby City, KFA and Leong Leong’s Los Angeles LGBT Center, and BIG’s Copenhill. We also mark the passing of curator Henry Urbach, and the changing of the guard at the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
