Spring/Summer 2023: AN Interior 23
Our Spring/Summer issue of AN Interior has arrived, and The Architect’s Newspaper is excited to share another curated selection of our favorite interiors by architects. With pages full of new imagery by emerging designers like the duo behind In Common With, a special section showcasing kitchen and bath designs focused on water conservation, as well as our favorite picks from Salone del Mobile, issue 23 offers a beautiful snapshot of the best from the blurring lines between art, architecture and design today.
A hat factory turned live-work space sets the scene in Brooklyn. Designed collaboratively by Ignacio G. Galán, Jesse McCormick and Future Projects, it’s complete with raw concrete floors that scatter warm and intimate floor lights—the antithesis of ever having to turn on “the big light.” Another first look is offered at CIVILIAN’s new interiors for Newlab Detroit, a continuation of the open-plan creative energy first seen in their Brooklyn Navy Yard space. The husband and wife duo resists a “palm-core” treatment, but nevertheless offers a verdant new environment inserted into what was previously a 1936 Albert Kahn-designed art deco building.
Issue 23’s special section showcases a series of of-the-moment kitchen and bath designs with an emphasis on water conservation. From a sophisticated marbled West 53rd street apartment to “The Bagel House,” this section dissects the latest trends in materiality and sustainable design to inform your next project.
Don’t miss our favorite picks from the design industry’s leading event, Salone del Mobile. Ranging from light fixtures to outdoor chaise lounges, we showcase bold designs by both established studios and architect-led collaborations.
